Milling – workholding – rotary table with four jaw chuck

Though it might be obvious that a three jaw chuck mounted on a rotary table would be useful it is not so obvious that a four jaw one might be.

A four jaw chuck mounted on a rotary table is almost equivalent to a rotary table fitted with 4 side clamps.

It is shown elsewhere that a four jaw chuck mounted on a plate that can be fitted on the milling table is like a fixture consisting of four side clamps.This can be very useful and is easy to make furthermore it can be mounted on rotary table.

In any of these arrangement not only can a workpiece that is not round, be easily held but it is also useful for holding round shapes eccentrically.
